In one of the most anticipated transfers of Liga MX 2022, Jesus Angulo was captured in photos and video arriving in Nuevo Leon to sign with Tigres.
As previously announced, the player was of interest to the Felinos, who had been looking to sign him for weeks.
Today, the player was finally spotted in the city of Monterrey, where he went to sign with his new team, just as Sebastian Cordova did last week.
Upon his arrival in his new city, the player said:
"I feel very happy, eager to achieve important things here, eager to do our bit together with all the fans who are going to support us, so I am happy and content to belong to Tigres."
After reaching an economic agreement that is beneficial to both parties, it seems that the player will be presented as a new member of the club in the next few hours on Monday, through his social networks.
The player's salary was undoubtedly one of the central points of the negotiation.
And it is known that at his new team, "Stich" will earn more than 579 thousand dollars, while at Atlas he earned 193 thousand dollars a year.
The punctual increase in his salary was triple what he earned in his previous team, but the increase is justified by how he helped Atlas break its 70-year curse without winning the Liga MX.
The 23-year-old defender, born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, is the second reinforcement to join the club led by Miguel Herrera; the first to arrive was Sebastian Cordova.
It appears that all that remains is for Angulo to pass his medical exams before being announced by the team as its new reinforcement.
The player has had a successful stint in Mexican soccer since he made his debut with Santos Laguna in the Apertura 2017, only to be loaned to Atlas two years later.
Once this club saw the player's potential, they decided to buy him, an investment that would pay off as the player would be a determining factor in the Apertura 2021 championship.
The player had been performing well with his club for some time, but 2021 was definitely his year because Atlas renewed his contract in June. Why? Because they had already seen the player's potential.
And not only that, the club's board of directors realized at that time that "Stich" had awakened the interest of several Mexican soccer clubs.
The player's characteristics had already been highlighted by the soccer writer and analyst Cesar Munoz, from the blog Rectángulo Verde.
The writer pointed out that, despite his youth at the time, the Santos laguna youth player had no problem covering for Mexican soccer greats such as Jurgen Damm, Enner Valencia, or Rubens Sambueza.
Since then, Jesus Angulo already stood out for his marking and the difficulties he caused the strikers to access the ball.
But what stood out about the player in that analysis was his ability to switch to offense in the blink of an eye.
The player can be very important support on the right flank, and he can also occasionally overflow to be a support for the attack.
It was precisely these characteristics that led Atlas to renew his contract in June 2021, with a view to 2025.
And it was a wise move on the part of the Zorros, as his arrival at Tigres means that the Red-and-Blacks were able to obtain a significant profit for the player, although not all the details of his transfer have been released.
