According to ESPN's Mauricio Ymay, the injury was not to the cruciate ligament, which could have aggravated the situation for the player. 

Ymay reported the following to ESPN: "I didn't hear the knee thunder, which is a good sign, at least to avoid a cruciate ligament rupture, maybe it's just a strain, he told me that, between 3 and 4 weeks I'll be out and I'll be able to return to activity. The ankle got caught when he was sweeping to get the ball and that's where the knee gives him leverage". 

Sanchez's absence will be felt in Mexico's upcoming matches

The absence of the Mexican right-back will undoubtedly be felt in El Tri's upcoming matches, when they face Costa Rica this Sunday, January 30. 

Also pending is the match against Panama, which is scheduled to be played next Wednesday, February 2, matches in which the Mexican national team must win to secure its ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. 

If the injury is not too serious, the player will only miss Club America's matches against San Luis, Santos, Mazatlán FC, Pachuca, and Pumas UNAM, before returning to action on March 1 against Querétaro. 

In other words, the player will miss 5 Rounds of Liga MX 2022, which will affect him significantly as he will lose the rhythm of play he had with the Azulcremas.
