Liga MX 2022 has already kicked off and although there have not been many changes in the calendar, there is still a question mark: the Club America vs Mazatlan FC duel was postponed but nobody knows why.
So far, neither the Aguilas nor the Cañoneros and much less Liga MX has made a statement on the matter, however, the Mexican media is already beginning to ask the reason for this change.
The duel is scheduled for January 16, but the time at which the match will take place is still unknown.
If the Mexican League 2022 match continues as scheduled, both the Sinaloa and Coapa teams will have a week without activity.
In a way, this is an advantage as they will be able to work on all the mistakes they made on Day 1 of the Clausura 2022, after losing and drawing against Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara and Puebla, respectively.
If everything goes according to schedule, the Águilas will host Atlas de Guadalajara on January 22 at the Azteca Stadium at 21:00.
For their part, the Cañoneros will return to action on January 21 at the Kraken Stadium when they host the Diablos Rojos de Toluca at 20:00.
As so far both teams and Liga MX 2022 have not made any statement, several speculations have been generated in the Mexican media.
There was even talk that there was an outbreak of COVID-19 in both teams but so far neither has reported this to the media.
And the situation is still strange because, in the match schedules that both teams released for their fans, the date of their match is still Wednesday, February 16.
And it is known that Club America will play as visitors, but so far there is no set time for this duel.
In the current Mexican League 2022, there have been cases in which some games have been postponed due to outbreaks of COVID-19.
The first match to be rescheduled was Tigres vs Santos Laguna, which had to be postponed due to the numerous infections of the virus in the Felinos club.
As far as was known, the match was to be played on Saturday, January 8 at 20:00 ET, however, with the date change, the match will now take place on Wednesday, January 12 at 20:06 ET.
So far, on the Liga MX official website, the match between Club America and Mazatlán FC appears as "Undefined" in the space where the date and time of the match should be displayed.
In Mexico, TV stations can have a great influence on match schedules, especially when it comes to the top national soccer circuit.
Therefore, different media outlets have speculated that the match was modified for the following reason.
The TV station in charge of broadcasting the match, TV Azteca, usually broadcasts Mazatlán FC matches at 21:00 Mexico time.
But according to Soy Futbol, in Round 2 Necaxa already occupied that time slot, and the Rayos' matches are normally broadcast by TUDN and TV Azteca.
It could be that due to the interest of the TV stations the schedule is not the best for broadcasting the match, but Liga MX is expected to inform the reason for the change in the match schedule during the week.
