Liga MX 2021: Club America gets Diego Valdes

Club America managed to sign Diego Valdes, a Chilean player who will leave his previous team, Santos Laguna, to join the Aguilas. In this way, the player will become one of the most valuable reinforcements for the Clausura 2022 Liga MX tournament. 

According to mexican media, Valdes has already reached an economic agreement with America to leave Santos Laguna, the team with which the player shone in recent Liga MX tournaments. 

How much did it cost America to sign Diego Valdes? 

According to information gathered by the Aguilas Monumental website, a fan page of the Mexican team, the transfer cost for the player was seven million dollars.

In this way, the team's coach Santiago Solari and the sporting director Santiago Baños begin to reinforce their team for the next tournament. 

According to the portal Mediotiempo, the agreement is closed and the Chilean only needs to pass the medical tests to sign the contract and join the Coapa team.  

More than a week ago, the sports news channel ESPN reported that the negotiation had stopped because the player was asking the Aguilas for a three-year contract, and a salary that would be one of the highest in the team.

However, América's board of directors is not interested in giving long-term contracts, in order not to keep players for so long, as has happened with recent signings such as Benedetti and Nicolás Castillo.

The Chilean's numbers before his move to Club America

The player was key to Santos' great tournament. His numbers with the club show that the player gave his best to help La Fiera finish in fifth place in the general table. 

Valdes played in 15 games, 13 of them as a starter and scored 5 goals. But his successful time with the Coahuila team is not limited to the Apertura 2021 tournament. 

Since his arrival to the team from Morelia, the player has scored 17 goals, and in the current tournament he was an important part of helping his team reach the Liguilla, the Liga MX playoffs. 

However, his team was eliminated by Tigres UANL, who managed to score an away goal, which gave the advantage to the team from the north of Mexico, who only had to score 1 goal in the second leg to eliminate Santos with a score of 1-0.

Other players with a chance to join Club America

As one of the most important clubs in Mexico, it is very common for the Aguilas' signings to generate a stir. 

Although the only new addition so far is Diego Valdes, other names that are being strongly rumored to join America include: Israel Reyes, Darwin Machís, Lauro Gianetti, Leonardo Castro and Eduardo Aguirre. 

However, the only one confirmed so far is Valdes, who only needs to pass the medical exams to announce his arrival to the Azulcrema team. 

Without a doubt, the most controversial move in Liga MX would be the exchange between America and Chivas. 

America is looking for Uriel Antuna, current Chivas player and to get him, the Aguilas want to exchange him for their player Sebastian Cordoba. 

This move has been so controversial that fans of both teams have made protests through social networks for this not to happen.
