Chivas couldn’t keep up with the good streak that they had since Ricardo Cadena took over the team with four games left on the regular season, as the lost against Atlas FC in the quarterfinals of Clausura 2022 by a 3-2 aggregate.

The reinforcement that Chivas fans are asking for and that would clean up Pelaez's management

Although they had a five-game unbeaten streak since Cadena arrived, El Rebaño Sagrado couldn’t surpass what was their first real challenge, as the Mexican coach never found a way of breaking the solid defense that Atlas placed.

Now that the season is over for them, there’s several questions that will need to be answered shortly, as the roster will start the preseason on the first week of June, leaving Chivas with 10 days to define who is going to be their new coach.

Even if that’s the priority for now, they also need to start looking for new additions for Apertura 2022, as there are several payers that concluded their contracts and are not expected to return, including Raúl Gudiño, who was the starting goalkeeper until he announced that was looking to leave El Rebaño.

Chivas have a replacement in mind, just the way they acquired Gudiño

Raúl Gudiño arrived at Chivas back in 2018, when El Rebaño acquired him from Primeira Liga side FC Porto, as the Mexican goalkeeper didn’t have playing time given that Iker Casillas was the starting goalkeeper for the Dragões Azuis.

Now that he’s set to leave, Chivas want to repeat the same formula as they are looking to acquire his replacement from Europe, as reports suggest that they are after Anthony Sean Ramos, goalkeeper that plays for Real SC, from Portuguese third flight.

Ramos was formed in the academy teams of MLS side LA Galaxy, but after his contract with the Galaxy expired at the end of last season, he decided to leave MLS and pursue the European dream. The 19-year-old goalkeeper is part of El Tri U-20.

How much will Chivas have to pay for him?

After El Rebaño couldn’t agree to a contract extension with Gudiño or sell him over the winter transfer window, they couldn’t recover their investment, which is why they can’t spend a lot of money on his replacement. But according to Transfermarkt, his current market value is set at less than $1 million, an affordable sum for a young reliable goalkeeper.
