On Sunday night, Atlas FC became Liga MX champion for the second time in the same number of seasons after spending over 70 years without a single title. But Los Rojinegros know that the end of Clausura 2022 could also mean the final game of players like Julio Furch wearing Atlas’s colors.
Club América are willing to double Julián Quiñones’s salary to convince him to leave Atlas
In Club América, they know that signing reinforcements for Apertura 2022 is a must, especially in offense, as Las Águilas don’t have a striker that can score consistently, given that neither Henry Martín nor Federico Viñas were able to contribute.
According to reports, Las Águilas have been in contact with Julio Furch, who has become one of the best strikers that arrived at Liga MX in the past decade, as he’s always become a key player for the three teams he’s played for in Mexico.
The same reports suggest that the Azulcremas are willing to offer Atlas $7 million for Furch’s economic rights, even if Los Rojinegros have him valued at $4 million, and even if the offer is attractive for Atlas, both Atlas and Furch have taken a decision
During the parade to celebrate the Liga MX title that Los Zorros won on Sunday night against CF Pachuca, José Riestra, president of Atlas FC, confirmed that the idea is to keep most of the players on the current roster, and instead of selling, they want to strengthen the squad to compete in the CONCACAF Champions League.
A few days ago, Furch had talked about his stay at Atlas, as he said that even if he was happy with Los Rojinegros, he hadn’t decided what was going to happen in his future, although if Atlas won Liga MX again, he would stay no matter what, as he wants to play with Los Zorros in an international level.
