Club América is having one of their worst starts in Liga MX, as they’ve managed to earn just six points in eight rounds of Clausura 2022 as a result of one victory over Santos Laguna and three draws, against Club Puebla, Pumas UNAM and Club Querétaro.

Santiago Solari’s replacement in Club América could arrive from Argentina

Santiago Solari coached his last game on Tuesday night against Querétaro, and although they were close to winning the game, a last-minute penalty kick tied the things for Gallos Blancos, who haven’t lost a game since Hernán Cristante took over the team.

Although in Club América were expecting that Solari was able to earn at least four out of the six points available this week and Las Águilas still had chance of winning against Monterrey, Emilio Azcárraga lost the faith he had left in Solari’s project and decided to fire the Argentine coach.

Now, Club América are looking for a coach that can replace Solari and take over the team that currently stands second to last in Clausura 2022. According to reports, former Mexico National Team coach Juan Carlos Osorio will be ready to return to Mexico, this time with Las Águilas.

Can Osorio be the coach Las Águilas need?

Reports suggest that Osorio is willing to leave his current position in Colombia side América de Cali, given that the results haven’t been the expected and things are tense between him and the Escarlatas followers.

Osorio has experience coaching in Liga MX, as he had a brief stint with Club Puebla in 2012, before arriving in Atlético Nacional, where he had the best period of his career, as he won 6 titles and played on 9 finals in three years.

The success he had with El Verde is what gave him the chance of arriving in El Tri in 2015, and although he hasn’t been able to replicate after that, he’ll try to do it once again, when he becomes Las Águilas coach, as reports in Colombia suggest that is a matter of time until he is announced.

Can Las Águilas afford to have Osorio on their bench?

Reports suggest that, when Club América hired Santiago Solari, they offered to pay him $2 million per year. Juan Carlos Osorio earned $1.2 million per year when he was coaching Mexico National Team, which could be a similar salary that he could receive in América.
