Although Cruz Azul is still a contender for Clausura 2022, things inside La Máquina are not working, as the problems between the roster and management haven’t been solved since Jaime Ordiales returned to replace Álvaro Dávila.

Juan Reynoso decided to bench José de Jesús Corona in Cruz Azul’s defeat against Puebla for this reason

It’s yet to be known what will happen with Juan Reynoso once the season is over, as the tension between him and Ordiales could mean the end of the relationship with the coach that gave La Máquina their first Liga MX title in over 23 years.

But within the roster, there’s players that are unhappy with how things have been developing during the season, as La Máquina have won just one of their last five games and will have to face four more games in the next two weeks, something that could leave them out of the competition for Liga MX if they don’t start winning again.

José de Jesús Corona, who has been the starting goalkeeper since 2009, is one of the players that feels most unhappy, as first his son, Misael Corona, had to leave the team looking for more playing time, and now he was benched in the last game against Club Puebla, which is why he’s thinking of leaving La Máquina.

Which team can acquire him?

Even if he still is under contract with Cruz Azul until the 2022-23 Liga MX Season ends, Corona has opened the door to teams to start negotiating with him, as he feels his time in La Máquina is coming soon to an end.

He knows he has at least one more year playing at the current level he is, although if he keeps getting benched, he could lose his shape, which is why he will consider leaving Cruz Azul if the right offer arrives to La Noria.

In the past, he was part of three Guadalajara teams, including Atlas and Chivas, and given that his family is from Jalisco, he doesn’t see with bad eyes returning to La Perla Tapatía, especially to Chivas, where they haven’t found a reliable goalkeeper.

How much will they have to pay for him?

Although “Chuy” Corona is 41 years old and is rapidly approaching to the end of his professional career, given the good season he’s having, any team that wanted to acquire him would have to pay $900,000 to Cruz Azul, as that’s his current market value.
