América continues to build its squad for the Clausura 2022. Following the departures of central defender Emanuel Aguilera to Atlas and right winger Renato Ibarra to Xolos de Tijuana, the Azulcrema club is looking for replacements and Jorge Mére and Pablo Solari have been chosen to take their places.
América are still interested in acquiring the services of Argentine Pablo Solari. América’s board sent Colo-Colo's management an offer of US$2 million for the midfielder, which was categorically rejected by the Cacique's directors, so they are preparing a new offensive for Solari with an offer of more than US$2.5 million to try to convince the Chilean club, according to ESPN.
This proposal would be double of what Colo Colo paid for 80 percent of the player's card to Talleres de Córdoba. However, people close to the albos' environment see it as complicated that this amount is enough to get rid of Solari, since the Chilean board plans to obtain at least four million for the player's rights or otherwise keep him in the team to play in the Copa Libertadores and increase his value in the market in the near future.
For the moment, the Colo Colo's board is waiting for a new communication from the Mexican team to know the new figures that the Águilas put on the table, while the player trains with the rest of his teammates as part of the team's preseason. The 'Pibe', as he is called inside the club, is contemplated by coach Gustavo Quinteros for the first half of 2022, but in case he is settled with America, the coach would seek the return of Martin Rodriguez.
América's directors are close to finalizing a replacement to reinforce the team's defense. The Águilas are in talks with Spaniard Jorge Meré, who would arrive from Cologne of the German Bundesliga.
The Azulcrema team was thinking of bringing in a Mexican player, but the option of Meré has gained momentum and is on track to arrive in Coapa. The 24-year-old defender would be part of the plan to rejuvenate the defensive zone and would compete for a starting position with Bruno Valdez, Jordan Silva and Sebastián Cáceres.
Meré's most outstanding feature is his aerial play due to his height of over 1.80 meters, and although he has not had much participation in the current Bundesliga season, he is a strong option to join Coapa.
