Monterrey started Clausura 2022 with a 0-0 draw against Querétaro, a score that doesn’t seem very promising for the most expensive team in Liga MX and their near future, as they will be playing FIFA Club World Cup in February.

Javier “Vasco” Aguirre placed Vincent Janssen in the starting XI, over Rogelio Funes Mori, who holds the record for most goals for Rayados, but “El Toro” couldn’t find the net in the time he had on the pitch. It’s worth mentioning that during Apertura 2021 he only scored one goal, against Cruz Azul in the 4-1 defeat in Liguilla.

Things aren’t as different for Rayados other striker, Rogelio Funes Mori, who played as a substitute against Gallos Blancos, but he couldn’t score, something that is becoming regular for him, as he only scored 6 goals the past semester, but only four of those goals were during the regular season.

Which striker could Monterrey add to prevent the lack of goals?

The answer for Rayados problem could be in Liga MX, as now teams have the option to register players from the national league until February 10. Atlas forward Julio Furch could become Monterrey striker if they are willing to pay $2.9 million for his transfer.
