Because the World Cup Qualifiers are being played, several teams scheduled friendly games to keep up the pace, and in today's Club America vs Cruz Azul friendly match, a brand new reinforcement finally scored his debut goal.
Not only that, but the Aguilas defeated La Máquina by a convincing 3-1 scoreline, which allowed both teams to try out new tactical schemes and review issues that need to be improved.
Diego Valdés, reinforcement that arrived at Club America for Liga MX 2022, scored a goal today that ended a match in which the Aguilas had a spectacular comeback after starting the match trailing.
When Cruz Azul's first and only goal was scored, there was a certain air of discouragement in the Coapa club's facilities where the match was played, thinking that this match was going to end just like the Aguilas' Liga MX matches.
However, this was not the case and Club America's goals began to fall, ending with a score of 3-1 that reflected the superiority of the Aguilas over La Máquina.
The first goal of the match came in the 13th minute when Alejandro Mayorga decided to attack the center of the opponent's area and dared to take a powerful shot towards Oscar Jimenez's goal, who was unable to stop the ball.
With this action, the match was 1-0, but the Aguilas did not take long to respond, as at minute 18 the referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Club America, a shot that would be taken by Roger Martínez, who scored and left the score tied 1-1.
Later, in the 55th minute, Federico Viñas shot inside the box and scored the second for the Aguilas, who looked as they have not done in Liga MX: with superiority.
And to seal the game, Diego Valdés shot in the 77th minute from outside the box and put the ball into the corner to score América's third.
The friendly match played today had the purpose of preventing the players who were not called up by their respective national teams from losing their playing rhythm, as Liga MX returns next weekend.
Club America has a game against Atletico San Luis next Saturday, February 5, while Cruz Azul will face Leon on Monday, February 7.
Therefore, today's friendly match should serve as preparation for both teams, which occupy very different and distant places in the overall standings of Liga MX 2022.
Cruz Azul is in second place in the overall standings while the Aguilas are in 14th place, so Santiago Solari and his new reinforcements should return Club America to its rightful place in Liga MX as one of its most dominant teams.
Las Aguilas have just 1 point in the current competition and their first Round 1 match they barely managed to draw with Puebla and have a Round 2 match against Mazatlán FC pending.
However, they already have one defeat in Liga MX 2022 as the current champion of the tournament, Atlas, defeated them with a score of 2-0, which has even put in doubt the continuity of Santiago Solari at the helm of the team.
