Juan Reynoso might be living his last season as coach of Cruz Azul, as reports suggest that he’s being considered by the Peruvian Football Association to be the replacement of Ricardo Gareca if La Blanquirroja doesn’t manage to earn their ticket to Qatar 2022 in the upcoming FIFA match window.

Reynoso arrived in La Máquina for Apertura 2021 after parting ways with Club Puebla even if Jaime Ordiales opposed to the signing of the Peruvian coach, as he thought that Reynoso didn’t have enough experience to coach a team with the history of Cruz Azul.

It only took him six months to prove Ordiales wrong, as he become the first coach to give La Máquina a Liga MX title after 23 years. And for Clausura 2022, Cruz Azul is a strong contender for the title once again, as they’re standing fifth with just six rounds left before Liguilla starts.

And now that his good performances are going to place him away from Cruz Azul some of La Máquina players that arrived at his request are considering leaving as soon as he becomes the next coach of Peru National Team.

Who are the players that will leave Cruz Azul?

According to reports from TUDN, at least three players are not planning on leaving La Máquina over the summer, as they’re ending their contract and are not considering renewing, not only because Reynoso is leaving, but because they feel the need of getting a fresh start.

The first player that will leave Los Cementeros is Brayan Angulo, as the 26-year-old striker hasn’t found the regularity expected in Cruz Azul, and in recent games the stands of Estadio Azteca have turned against him, which gives him another reason to leave Liga MX to return to Sout American soccer.

Pablo Aguilar is also on his last months of contract and has refused to extend his contract with La Máquina and already let Cruz Azul management know of his decision. The last player who is leaving The Cementeros is Rómulo Otero, who hasn’t been able to gain regularity.

How much can Reynoso earn in Peru?

The option of leaving Cruz Azul for Reynoso not only implies leaving behind the tension that has built inside La Máquina since Ordiales returned, but also have an increase on his salary, as for now he’s earning $1.5 million and Peru National Team is willing to double it.
