Before Jaime Lozano arrived in Necaxa, Los Rayos had one of the worst starts in Liga MX, with just one victory and three defeats. But the team used to look lost, as they didn’t have order in the bottom part of the pitch and were relying on individualities.
Will Juan Reynoso leave Cruz Azul after the 2-1 defeat against Necaxa?
That lack of defensive solidity was the main reason for Pablo Guede’s dismissal after just four games in Clausura 2022, as Los Rayos received 10 goals in that span of time. Jaime Lozano was commissioned with the challenge of imprinting a style and give Necaxa regularity on the pitch.
Cruz Azul was ready to receive a weak Necaxa in Estadio Azteca. Given their recent performances, everyone believed that La Máquina was going to have an easy game, but after the first half in which Cruz Azul was superior, Necaxa took over the match and finished a comeback to give “Jimmy” Lozano his first victory, defeating Cruz Azul by a 2-1 score.
After the 1-1 draw between Club Puebla and Atlas, Cruz Azul had the opportunity of becoming the lone leader of Liga MX with a victory, as they’d reach 13 points against the 11 that La Franja and Los Zorros have. Instead, they remain third with 10 points, the same points that Tigres has.
During the week, rumors about Juan Reynoso’s resignation started flooding social media, as he doesn’t have the best relationship with Jaime Ordiales, who returned to La Máquina for a second stint. And after the 2-1 defeat suffered on Saturday night, Reynoso could seriously be considering leaving Cruz Azul.
