It was known that Alexis Vega was under negotiations with Monterrey for the past few weeks, waiting to join them to boost his career playing the FIFA Club World Cup and maybe moving to Europe after, but nothing really transpired after that.

He even refused to sign a contract extension with Chivas that was going to make him earn the double he is making now, as Rayados was willing to offer him the triple of his current salary, an offer that Chivas couldn’t match.
But Javier “Vasco” Aguirre, Rayados’ coach, was asked if he was still waiting for another addition to the team, and if they were expecting to have Alexis Vega signed in the next few days, to what he answered that his team was full and ready to face Clausura 2022 and FIFA Club World Cup.

Alexis Vega is still under contract with Chivas for one more year, and he could resume conversations with Chivas to extend his stay with the team. Even Marcelo Michel Leaño, Chivas’ coach, said he was hopeful the Mexican striker stays with the team for a long time.
