Club América will visit CF Pachuca on Sunday night for the second leg of the semifinals of Clausura 2022, in a must-win game for Las Águilas after they couldn’t earn the advantage in the first leg given that Nicolás Ibañez scored the 1-1 equalizer minutes before the game ended.

Why América could return to international duty if they beat Pachuca?

If the game ends in another draw, the position on the table will give CF Pachuca the ticket to the final, putting an end to one of the most incredible stories that Liga MX has lived in recent years, as 12 games ago, Las Águilas were standing last.

Fernando “Tano” Ortíz will have to appeal to the good chemistry that he has build with the players if he wants to keep the fairy tale going on, as well as find a way to impose their gaming style from the first game of the minute to not allow Pachuca to find their comfort zone.

But Ortíz will also have to make sure all the players in the roster are in sync, as the outside noise could end up make them lose their focus, especially now that the summer transfer window is close and the interest in one of the best players is growing by the minute.

América, in danger of losing one of their stars

Although he had a hard time adapting to Club América when Santiago Solari was still coaching Las Águilas, once Fernando Ortíz took over the team, Diego Valdés showed why he needed to arrive at a big Club like América, as Santos Laguna was small for him.

But now that he keeps proving to be one of the best additions that Las Águilas have had in years, he’s also gathering interest from European clubs, especially from Turkish side Beşiktaş FK, according to reports from Chilean sports news outlets.

Beşiktaş  wants to add the Chilean international for next season, but given that Valdés arrived this season at Club América, it looks difficult that Las Águilas will let him go so soon, especially with the outstanding performances that he’s had recently, as he managed to score seven goals and five assistances so far.

How much will Beşiktaş have to pay for him?

Although his current market value is set at $6.6 million, according to Transfermarkt, Las Águilas paid almost the double for his transfer, $11.6 million, and won’t be willing to accept an offer from less than $15 million.
