After the success that Alejandro Irarragorri and Grupo Orlegi have had in Liga MX with Santos Laguna and that then were able to replicate with Atlas, who broke a 71-year streak of drought with Liga MX title last season, they are set to continue their path with a new team.

Although they were indirectly involved with the brawl that happened in Estadio Corregidora on the game between Club Querétaro and Atlas, Grupo Orlegi could be one of the most beneficed parties after the demand from Liga MX to sell Gallos Blancos.

According to sports journalist David Medrano, Grupo Caliente and Jorgealberto Hank will sell the franchise and Club Querétaro will disappear from Liga MX, as the new owners will relocate and rebrand the team to whatever suits them best.

That’s where Grupo Orlegi intervenes, as they have showed that they know how to manage successfully a Liga MX team, and the acquisition of Querétaro would mean not only another place in Mexico’s top flight for their group, but also the opportunity of giving young players a new option to show their talents.

Where will they relocate Querétaro?

Grupo Orlegi already has a team that hasn’t been as successful as their brothers in Liga MX, as Club Tampico-Madero has struggled to be on the top part of the table in Liga de Expansión, although if Irarragorri decides to promote them to Liga MX via the relocation of Querétaro, they will significantly improve their roster.

The Jaibas Bravas are one of the five teams that fulfills all the requirements that Liga MX has established to let a team from Liga de Expansión be promoted to Liga MX once the system of promotion/Relegations resumes, something that will happen in 2023.

Atlhough , if the return of the Jaibas Bravas turns to be true, Grupo Orlegi will have to name a different president for Tampico-Madero in order to avoid the multi-propriety ban in Liga MX, something they are already doing with both Atlas and Santos Laguna.

How much does Querétaro costs?

Grupo Caliente has until the end of 2022 to sell Club Querétaro and all of their assets, as claimed by Liga MX and the sanctions they imposed. According to a report from Radio Formula, the franchise currently is worth $22 million, but adding the worth of the roster plus various other assets, they will be sold for around $100 million.
