José Luis Higuera, former Chivas manager, gave a strong message to Alexis Vega about José Juan Macías, and compared these two players of the Rebaño Sagrado.
Liga MX 2022: Monterrey to offer Alexis Vega millions to leave Chivas
Higuera has always been known for his strong statements, but on this occasion, his comparisons echoed more than ever as he referred to two Chivas players who have attracted attention in recent days, but for different reasons.
While Vega is now a sensation for having saved Mexico's goal against Jamaica by playing a key role in the first goal and scoring the second, the case of Macías is different.
The player received bad news a few days ago when his club Getafe decided to terminate his contract.
Macías signed with Getafe last July, at the request of coach Miguel González "Michel". However, after the coach's dismissal, the Mexican striker's luck changed radically, with no options with the team's new coach, Quique Sánchez Flores.
And for this reason, the former Chivas leader gave strong statements about both players.
The former executive of the Rebaño Sagrado criticized the return of Macías, about whom he said that he is returning through the back door when upon his departure from the team it was said that he was the next Hugo Sánchez:
"There was practically talk of the next Hugo Sánchez and see how he (Macías) returns, unfortunately through the back door. Not even with a reasonable process, where you say, he played and tried, but he didn't play, he was more involved in off-field issues".
About Vega, the former manager advised him not to do the same and take care of his process, and stated that the European elite is at another level:
"Win something, he has not won anything with Chivas, he is a player who is spectacular at times and then falls into some game slumps, that in Europe is unforgivable. Alexis is a great player, but the European elite is another level, not just any player makes it to Europe".
Higuera also did not miss the opportunity to make the comparison of Vega with Macías and said:
"Alexis' dream of Europe can be a very strong mirage, yes it is going to help him grow, but he can return with a setback if he is stubborn about leaving in the style of José Juan Macías, that it is a whim and he does not think it through."
Chivas surprises everyone by adding a new player and it’s not José Juan Macías
