Club América are going through one of their worst crises in recent years, not only because they haven’t been the last team in Liga MX since 2017, but also because they’ve only won one game after ten rounds of Clausura 2022.
Santiago Baños already started negotiating with Nicolás Larcamón to arrive in Club América
Las Águilas fired Santiago Solari after eight games given the poor results, but things haven’t worked with Fernando “Tano” Ortíz, who became the interim coach until Emilio Azcárraga and Santiago Baños decided to hire a new coach.
But Azcárraga knows that the current crisis not only has to do with the bad streak they are, but also with the structure in Club América, as Santiago Baños hasn’t been able to win anything since 2018, a year after he arrived in Las Águilas.
That’s why he’s considering parting ways with Baños before choosing a new coach, something that could happen this season, as Daniel Brailovsky has been linked to Las Águilas, a club he has a connection with, since he played with them and then coached them.
Reports suggest that it’s a matter of time to confirm his arrival in Club América, although it’s yet to be seen the position he takes, as some sources say that he’ll replace Santiago Baños as América chairman, but others suggest that he’ll have a new role, above Baños, focused on the sporting side of Las Águilas.
Either way, his arrival in América is almost confirmed, as Las Águilas will try to rebuild the club not only to be more connected with their followers, something that will happen with Brailovsky’s addition, but also to improve the current roster, who hasn’t showed to be on a level to belong to a club like América.
“El Ruso”, who recently decided to leave his job as TV analyst, suggesting he’s ready to return to Club América, knows that neither Roger Martínez nor Henry Martín have showed the regularity and aim needed to help Las Águilas leave the bottom of the table, which is why Julio Furch will be his first addition.
Along Furch, Brailovksy will also consider acquiring Arturo Alfonso González from CF Monterrey, as “Ponchito” is an experienced player that could help in the creation on midfield, something Las Águilas have been missing since the injury of Pedro Aquino.
