Cruz Azul possible departures for Clausura 2022

Cruz Azul failed to win the 2021 Apertura title and is now analyzing the roster construction for the 2022 Clausura, but the problem is that they do not have enough budget to look for reinforcements, so they are not ruling out the possibility of selling players to earn profits.

One of the departures already confirmed and previously known for a few months ago is Orbelín Pineda Mexican player who will arrive to Europe, specifically for Celta de Vigo´s team. The footballer arrives as a free agent, after failing to reach an agreement with “Celeste´s” board directors.

However, the signing of the player from Guerrero is experiencing a setback, since the Spanish team does not have enough foreigners to allow him to play, as three players who could free the place, are waiting for their community passport and thus allow Celta de Vigo to sign a player not born in Spain, those players are Renato Tapia, Franco Cervi, and Thiago Galhardo.

During his time with the “Máquina”, Pineda played 7805 minutes in 112 matches, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 16 occasions, as well as helping break the Celestes' 23-year titleless streak in the Guardianes 2021.

As for the striker, for the moment there are no offers so far, but it is a matter of promoters. However, according to the newspaper El Universal, the board does not rule out looking for a place for him in order to generate earnings. According to the same newspaper, the board will soon meet with Juan Reynoso to define new signings and departures.

Cruz Azul paid US$10 million and the player is currently valued at US$9 million, according to the specialized portal Transfermarkt. Therefore, for Rodríguez, La Máquina could receive US$9 million dollars.

Regarding Luis Romo and Roberto Alvarado, both still have contracts for a year and a half with Cruz Azul and their departures are conditioned to foreign countries. Rumors surrounding Luis Romo became stronger after a tweet from the player.

The Peruvian ends his relationship with Cruz Azul in December and his agent has already placed him in the Major League Soccer with the plus of being a "free" player.

The Argentinean is now listening to offers from other clubs, including Liga MX itself, although there is a possibility that he will remain with the "Máquina", as long as he accepts a reduction in his salary. 

Problems between players and Juan Reynoso 

It seems that the reason why some of the Celeste players are looking to leave the club has to do with a series of dissatisfactions, due to an unhealthy relationship with coach Juan Reynoso. 

According to information compiled by Mediotiempo, there are decisions made by Reynoso that the squad did not like, including the fact that "Cabecita" Rodríguez did not start against Rayados in the play-offs, as the Peruvian put Santiago Giménez in the starting lineup. Luis Romo and Roberto Alvarado did not start either, both of whom have not renewed their contracts.
