Club América is having one of their worst participations in Liga MX in recent years, as they have earned just six points after nine rounds, which has left them at the bottom of the table, something that hadn’t happened since 2017, when Ricardo La Volpe was coaching Las Águilas.

The bad results already got Santiago Solari sacked from Club América, as a team with the history and importance in Mexican soccer like the Azulcremas can’t afford to have such a bad streak, as they’re expected to be one of the contenders instead of avoiding ending the season in last place.

That’s why Emilio Azcárraga is taking his time to find a new coach, as he knows that the person who assumes the job has to be able to handle the pressure that comes with the position, while also knowing how to manage a squad full of big names and big egos.

One of the names that recently was linked to Las Águilas is Ricardo Gareca, who currently coaches Peru National Team. According to Peruvian media, Club América is ready to give him a raise from what he currently is earning with La Blanquirroja.

Will Gareca accept arriving in América?

Club América will have to wait until the upcoming CONMEBOL Qualifiers match window is played to know what will happen to Ricardo Gareca, as if Peru earns their ticket to Qatar 2022, the coach will remain in the Incas bench.

But if Peru get eliminated, his arrival to Las Águilas could be a reality, although in order to leave Peru’s dugout, they’ll have to find a new coach first. According to reports, that coach will be Juan Reynoso, as he has impressed with his performances with both Club Puebla and Cruz Azul.

What will it take for Reynoso to leave La Máquina?

Although Reynoso has a release clause of around $1 million, given the tense relationship that he has with Cruz Azul management and that Jaime Ordiales, La Máquina’s sporting director, doesn’t like the Peruvian coach, they could agree to part ways earlier, voiding his release clause.

What’s in store for Peru?

Peru are currently standing fifth, one point below Uruguay, who has won their last two games and have the last direct ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and two above Chile, who has the most difficult games of the match window. Peru will have to beat Uruguay and Paraguay in order to secure their assistance to the World Cup.

Colombia, although have four less points than Peru, is still on the fight for the playoff spot, as they will face Bolivia and Venezuela in what seems the friendliest schedule of the remainder competitors for the last ticket that CONMEBOL awards.
