This month marks one year since Cruz Azul won its ninth Liga MX title, which is why the brand Joma Sports put a star on the badge from the uniforms it made for this season, which the team debuted prior to the Apertura 2021 and which generated a lot of controversy after being unveiled.
Cruz Azul vs Necaxa match at risk!
La Máquina fans exploded when they found out that the star representing the achievement, after a 23-year drought, was not inside the shield, but on top of it, and that they themselves would be in charge of ironing it onto the shirt they purchased, which had a cost of 1,299 Mexican pesos.
That is why, together with a series of controversies involving Joma Sports, the board was able to renegotiate its contract with the Spanish brand and reduce the contract by one year, so that next season will be the last one in which Cruz Azul will wear uniforms designed by this company.
After having to play the entire Apertura 2021 with the ninth star off the shield and only for the Clausura 2022 could it be worn normally, the Cementero team is finally about to complete the season with these uniforms, that is, the blue home uniform with vertical stripes, the white away uniform and the salmon-colored alternate.
Thus, Cruz Azul will release uniforms in the coming months, for the Apertura 2022 and will use them until the Clausura 2023, in the last year of the contract with Joma, so the playoffs and the Liguilla of the current Clausura 2022 will be the last matches in which the Celeste team will use the current uniforms.
So far, no design has been leaked of what could be the new uniforms of La Máquina, however, it has already emerged through some alternative sellers of the club's official products that Joma will surprise with an alternative jersey in black, as Umbro and Under Armour also did a few years ago.
