Following Club Tigres' victory in the Liga MX Clausura 2022 against La Jauría, these were Miguel Herrera's strong words after the win against Xolos.
On this occasion, the coach did not keep the subject of the Mexican National Team to himself, especially because in previous days he had been criticized for wanting to run for "Tata" Martino's place.
The coach held nothing back on the subject of the Mexican National Team and his words were strong and forceful when talking about El Tri, saying that he will not talk about the Mexican National Team again.
The Tigres coach affirmed that the subject is none of his business and that he is not a candidate for the position, as he is very happy at the moment managing the Felinos.
In his own words: "This is the last time I will speak on the subject, I will not return to the subject of the Mexican National Team, because it doesn't concern me and I am not running for the position at any time. I am very happy at Tigres, my family is happy at Tigres, I am grateful to the board and I hope to be here for many years to come".
Regarding Mexico's qualification for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022, the coach congratulated the team and said that, contrary to what has been said about El Tri having a bad qualifying campaign, the team did a good job.
"It gives me great pleasure because I am Mexican, Mexico's qualification. They tied for first place, there was talk of a bad qualifying round and it is not true, they have done a good job. Congratulations to the boys who participated in the process for this important achievement, which is to qualify for Mexico. I wish them all the success in the world, I will try to be just another fan," said Herrera.
These statements by the coach were responses to the media at a press conference after Herrera made statements in previous weeks about the Mexican National Team.
Among those statements, Herrera said two that made everyone think he was running for the position. In one of them he said that "he would not say no to El Tri", and also stated that "Gerardo Martino should step aside if he had health problems".
Miguel Herrera has every reason to be happy at Tigres, as his club has taken the lead in the overall standings of Liga MX 2022, having beaten Xolos de Tijuana, with goals from Juan Pablo Vigón and André Pierre Gignac.
