One of the things that Club América needs to improve for Apertura 2022 is the offense, as the top scorer for the team wasn’t a forward but instead Diego Valdés, offensive midfielder that joined them back in January and scored seven goals and five assistances.

Roger Martínez was able to score two goals, and even if he started the season as forward, since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz arrived at Las Águilas he moved him as a left-winger, leaving Henry Martín and Federico Viñas as the only forwards in the team.

Between the two of them, they were only able to score four goals in the regular season, which is why “El Tano” is looking to acquire a new striker that is already proven in Liga MX and can score consistently, like Julián Quiñones, who helped Atlas win back-to-back Liga MX titles.

América, willing to double his salary

Although the 25-year-old Colombian striker was just acquired by Atlas, as he joined them on a loan with option to buy, Las Águilas are looking to convince him to make a jump to a bigger team that could be a better showcase for him in the future.

According to sports journalist André Marín, Quiñones currently earns $430,000 per year, a salary that Las Águilas are willing to double, as they know that a good salary will be the first step to convince him to join them for next season.
