Club América will receive Club Puebla for the second leg of the quarterfinals of Clausura 2022 on Saturday evening in Estadio Azteca, where they will try to reach the semifinals. A draw or a victory will ensure their presence in the next stage.
This is the reason why Henry Martín keeps playing in Club América
Las Águilas were able to equalize the game on the first leg thanks to a header of Sebastián Cáceres with less than 10 minutes on the clock, as Fernando Aristeguieta had opened the score sheet at the start of the second half.
Club Puebla have become a regular team in Liguilla for the past two years, making them one of the toughest rivals that Fernando “Tano” Ortíz has faced since he took over Las Águilas, which is why they will have to play a perfect game if they want the ticket to the semifinals.
“Tano” Ortíz will have to plan the strategy for the match taking into consideration that Federico Viñas won’t be on the starting XI, as even if he didn’t suffer a foot fracture, he received seven stitches on the wound, which hasn’t let him train regularly. Instead, Herny Martín will be the starting striker.
Las Águilas followers are not keen into the idea of having Henry Martín on the pitch given the lack of goals that he’s had during Clausura 2022, something that also worries Ortíz and Santiago Baños, who already is looking for his replacement.
he striker that could arrive at Club América to fill his place is Lucas Marínez Dupuy, who currently plays for Argentine side Rosario Central and is part of the Mexican academy teams, as he’s usually called to the U-20 squad.
Although the Mexican Argentine striker currently is recovering from a torn ACL that will keep him out of the pitches until October, Martínez Dupuy has scored seven goals wearing the Canallas colors and he has said in the past during an interview that his dream is to play for Club América.
The 20-year-old forward is starting his career, which is why his current market value is set at $700,000, an affordable sum for Club América, especially if they part ways with Martín, who could leave Las Águilas around $3.6 million if he gets sold over the summer.
