Christian “Chaco” Giménez is one of the most renown players that arrived in Liga MX in the las decades, given the long career he made with Cruz Azul where he became a legend, but he’s also remembered for his stint with CF Pachuca, where he won the Copa Sudamericana in 2006.
Quique Setién could arrive in Club América and knows which players won’t be part of his roster
Although he arrived in Veracruz for the 2004-05 season, his outstanding performances gathered the attention of Club América, where he played the next season but couldn’t establish himself, which is why Las Águilas sold him to Pachuca.
With his arrival in Los Tuzos, he regained both his shape and the ability to show his talent on the pitch, where he won the Copa Sudamericana in his first season and then the only Liga MX title he was able to win in his long career in Mexican soccer.
After three years with Pachuca, “Chaco” Giménez arrived in Cruz Azul, where he played seven years and became a fan favorite, even if he couldn’t break the long streak without a title that La Máquina had back then. In 2018, he returned to Pachuca, where he played his last year as a player.
Since then, “Chaco” Giménez has continued his career in soccer as a coach, given that he took over Cancún FC, from Liga de Expansión, for the 2020-21 season, and then moved to Uruguay, where he coached CA Atenas for only 9 games. But now, a Mexican team is looking to have him on their roster and return him to Liga MX once again.
After the disappointing start that José San Beñat had with Mazatlán FC, they decided that it was no longer sustainable to have the Spanish coach on their dugout, which is why they decided to part ways with him and have been looking for a new coach ever since.
Reports suggest that Los Cañoneros are interested in having Gabriel Caballero as their new coach for the remainder of the season, but even if Caballero is their priority, they also want to have Christian Giménez on their bench for Clausura 2022.
Giménez shared locker room with Gabriel Caballero during his stint in Pachuca, which is why they have a good relationship and Caballero, who has the most coaching experience out of the two, would include him on his coaching staff.
