Although Chivas couldn’t beat Atlas in the first leg of the quarterfinals, as Los Zorros won 2-1, they still have chances of making it into the semifinals, as the team has showed an improvement since Ricardo Cadena became the interim coach.

El Rebaño Sagrado will visit Estadio Jalisco with the objective of winning by two or more goals if they want to remain on the fight for a new Liga MX title, and even if it looks complicated, they have won by two goals or more twice in the six games that Cadena has coached them.

Making it into the next stage will also be the only way of keeping Ricardo Cadena in the dugout for a longer period of time, as according to reports, the only way in which he will be able to remain as Chivas coach is if they surpass what Victor Manuel Vucetich did during his stint.

Although reports suggest that Chivas haven’t stopped looking for candidates to take over the team once Clausura 2022 is over, as Ricardo Peláez doesn’t trust Ricardo Cadena, as he doesn’t have enough experience coaching in a top-tier division.

Who is the coach that will arrive at Chivas?

In the past couple of weeks, it was revealed that Peláez had established conversations with Marcelo Bielsa, and even if the Argentine coach had seriously considered the offer made by El Rebaño, it seems like that option has faded away.

But Ricardo Peláez is still looking for a new coach that has experience in Liga MX and winning titles, and even if Diego Aguirre, he has plenty of experience coaching in South América, doesn’t fulfill the first requirement, which leaves him out of the competition.

According to reports from TUDN, Peláez interviewed with five different candidates to assume the coaching role, and he has decided to convince Amaury Vergara to sign Antonio Mohamed, as he has been successful during his several stints in Mexico.

Is Mohamed a viable option?

Although the Argentine coach is currently coaching Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro, during an interview with ESPN he revealed that he would like to coach Chivas as long as they presented him a long-term project and the guarantee of adding top quality players.
