Now that the regular season of Clausura 2022 is coming to an end, teams are starting to plan the 2022-23 Liga MX season, Nicolás Larcamón has once again become one of the most followed coaches in Liga MX, especially by the teams that are looking for a new coach.
The first player that will leave Cruz Azul if Ricardo Ferretti replaces Juan Reynoso
Since his arrival in Liga MX for Clausura 2021, Larcamón has helped Club Puebla to leave the bottom of the table and become a protagonist, as they’ve reached Liguilla on the three seasons he’s been in La Franja’s dugout, including Clausura 2022.
On his first season, Los Camoteros reached semifinals after finishing third in the regular season, losing against Club Santos. For Apertura 2021, La Franja finished fifth and beat Chivas in Repechaje, but eventually lost against Club León in quarterfinals.
Now, in Clausura 2022 with only one game left to be played, Club Puebla stands third and has the option of ensuring direct access to Liguilla if they manage to beat Mazatlán FC. But thanks to the outstanding work Larcamón has done, it could be his last game in regular season coaching La Franja,
Since the departure of Santiago Solari from Club América after eight round of Clausura 2022, the name of Nicolás Larcamón has been linked to Las Águilas. A couple weeks after, he was also placed in Chivas’s radar given the poor results that Marcelo Michel Leaño had during his stint.
His name keeps growing in popularity with the biggest Liga MX clubs now that Cruz Azul is looking for a new coach, given that they are going to part ways with Juan Reynoso once the season is over. But Larcamón has already decided where he’s coaching next season.
According to reports from sports journalist Francisco Arredondo, from TUDN, the negotiations between Nicolás Larcamón and Club Puebla are almost done, a situation that will extend his stay in La Franja for two more years.
Larcamón has found solidity in the project that he’s shaped in Club Puebla thanks to the fact that the roster has remained almost the same since his first contract extension. Larcamón has requested to keep most of the roster as well as key additions in order to continue growing in Liga MX.
