Marcelo Michel Leaño could finally give Chivas fans what they’ve been claiming since the end of Apertura 2021: more additions to the team, as El Rebaño Sagrado only acquired Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado in a trade with Cruz Azul for Uriel Antuna and the loan of Alejandro Mayorga.

But now, for the second leg of 2021-22 Liga MX Season, things might change, after reports suggests that Chivas is on the hunt for a new defender, someone that could solve the defensive depth they have after the departure of Mayorga and the exclusion of Josecarlos van Rankin from the squad.
Julián Araujo, who was part of Barcelona FC Academy teams in the United States and currently plays for LA Galaxy is the next right-back Chivas is after. The 20-year-old Mexican American had a breakout season on the MLS during 2021 and now is ready to continue his career on a different team.

According to Transfrmarkt, Julián Araujo’s market value is set at $5.1 million, but as Araujo is under contract with LA Galaxy until 2025, El Rebaño might have to pay more than that if they want to acquire him, but they’ll also have to wait if any European clubs are after him, as he has stated that the next step on his career is moving to European soccer.
