Chivas de Guadalajara are entering the final phase of the Clausura 2022 and are out of the playoff places. The Rebaño Sagrado is in fourteenth place with 14 points. Los Rojiblancos have the same number of points as games played. This situation led to the dismissal of Marcelo Michel Leaño, who replaced Víctor Manuel Vucetich in the 2021 Apertura last season.
Marcelo Michel Leaño: who is he and how much did the Chivas manager who was just fired earn?
Out of a possible 42 points, Chivas have only achieved one-third. In order to find an immediate solution to this situation, Ricardo Peláez and Amaury Vergara decided to fire the coach and replace him with Ricardo Cadena, coach of CD Tapatío, a subsidiary team of Guadalajara.
The new coach will have to find a way to get Chivas into the playoffs, however, the remaining matches will not be easy for Guadalajara, as 3 of the 4 teams they will face are all in the playoffs and will also want to secure their place as soon as possible.
Chivas will face Cruz Azul as visitors, Xolos de Tijuana and Pumas as the home team and finally, they will close the tournament as visitors against Necaxa.
Probably the most difficult match as Cruz Azul looks like the hardest team to beat. The team coached by Juan Reynoso is coming off a tough loss in the Concachampions League, losing in the semifinals against Pumas, in addition to losing Charly Rodríguez for the rest of the tournament, however, they have a deep roster and have shown some consistency during the tournament which gives them a better chance of winning this match.
The team from the border is in twelfth place, a place that gives you the last ticket to play in the playoffs. Tijuana knows that Chivas is a direct rival to get the last tickets to the playoffs, so the Rebaño Sagrado should not be confident against the team coached by Sebastián Mendez or they will be eliminated sooner than expected.
Lillini's Pumas never cease to surprise despite having a limited squad. The Auriazules are in the final of the Concachampions League and will face the Seattle Sounders, a team from the MLS. Although the team from the capital will give preference to this tournament, in the Liga MX they are in the tenth position, so they are in the playoff zone and also dream of getting in and fighting for both tournaments. Chivas will not have an easy game against the felines.
On paper the easiest team to defeat and with an irregular tournament, however, since the arrival of Jaime Lozano, Los Rayos have become a compact and difficult team to defeat. Chivas, if they are not eliminated at this stage, will have their last chance against the Hidrocalidos to dream of a playoff spot.
