Chivas managed to beat Club Necaxa on their visit to Aguascalientes for the last game of the regular season of Clausura 2022 thanks to a last-minute goal scored by Miguel Ángel Ponce on a corner kick that gave El Rebaño the home advantage in Repechaje.

Since Ricardo Cadena took over the team to where replace Marcelo Michel Leaño after 13 rounds Chivas won only three games, El Rebaño have found regularity and the results that have made them a protagonist team on the last part of Clausura 2022.
Cadena remains unbeaten since he assumed the coaching job on the first team, as he was coaching CD Tapatío before his sudden promotion, winning two away games against Cruz Azul, and Club Necaxa, and two games in Estadio Akron against Xolos de Tijuana and Pumas.
El Rebaño will enter Liguilla as one of the teams with the best streaks on the last part of the regular season, although part of the good results they’ve achieved recently have to do with the outstanding performances of Miguel “Wacho” Jiménez, who replaced Raúl Gudiño as the starting goalkeeper.
Even if the reason for Jiménez’s arrival at the starting position has more to do with problems outside sports rather than his talent, “Wacho” has taken advantage of the opportunity, especially with Ricardo Cadena, as he has two clean sheets and has received only two goals since the change of coaches.
But not even his great participations will ensure him his starting role for Apertura 2022, as now that is official that Raúl Gudiño won’t renew with El Rebaño -he was benched as a punishment for not renewing his contract-, Chivas are looking for a new goalkeeper.
According to reports, Chivas are after the addition of Carlos Acevedo, Santos Laguna goalkeeper who recently was the starter for Mexico National Team, as they know that a player of his caliber will help them return to the front pages of Liga MX, even if his arrival means to cut short Jiménez’s aspirations.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has said in the past that one of his biggest dreams is to play in Europe, something that Chivas can help him achieve given that El Rebaño is a bigger showcase than Santos, especially since they have a partnership with PSV Eindhoven, team that has showed interest in Acevedo recently.
