The executives of Guadalajara and Cruz Azul reached an agreement to exchange Uriel Antuna and Alejandro Mayorga for Roberto Alvarado, a negotiation that only needs the signatures of the players and both clubs to become official.
ESPN reported last Friday the formal proposal made by Chivas' sporting director, Ricardo Peláez, who offered Antuna and Mayorga in exchange for 'Piojo' Alvarado, once the negotiation of Antuna in a trade for Sebastián Córdova, from América, had fallen through definitively due to a disagreement between Uriel and the Azulcrema club over Uriel's salary.
It was then that Peláez set in motion another plan to acquire the services of Alvarado, a 23-year-old member of the Mexican national team, in exchange for Antuna, also a 24-year-old member of the national team, and Mayorga, a 24-year-old winger.
According to ESPN and different sources, both teams gave their agreement retaining 50 percent of each player's pass, that is, Cruz Azul keeps half of Alvarado's value for a future sale, while Chivas also retains that percentage of Antuna for a future transfer to any other team.
In addition, Mayorga is part of the negotiations due to the urgency of Cruz Azul to find a substitute for the 33-year-old Adrián Aldrete, whose contract expires on June 30, 2022, and there is no other player with that profile at the club, which is why the multifunctional Ignacio Rivero or Alvarado had to play on the left side in numerous matches due to Aldrete's absence as a result of injury for a large part of the last tournament.
However, Mayorga arrives at La Noria on a one-year loan with an option to buy until December 31, 2022, allowing the Celeste club to decide whether to keep the player or return him to the Guadalajara squad.
If everything goes according to plan, the agreement of one of the greatest moves of the winter transfer window of Liga MX could be announced in the next few hours, with Antuna and Mayorga wearing the Cruz Azul jersey for the Clausura 2022, and "Piojo" Alvarado switching to a red and white jersey for the next few tournaments.
