America and Chivas Mexico's biggest rivalry to make a swap of players?

Where is the respect for the fans? where is the loyalty to a club? is soccer just a business? America and Chivas negotiating a possible trade between Sebastián Córdova and Uriel Antuna as if Mexico’s biggest rivalry meant nothing. 

America´s and Chivas boards are planning the exchange for the players but,  why are they doing this? Aren´t they been disrespectful to their fans? Soccer is no longer about old values like loyalty or love for your club rather than doing business and trampling on everything that makes soccer beautiful like the loyalty of a player or the fact that you know that you can't play with your biggest rivalry, that does not exist anymore.

Antuna´s Concerns

Even though the teams have advanced talks for the players’ swap, the America fans have complained about this and created a campaign against the sign of Antuna. Besides this issue, the Chivas player was doubtful about the move but not for the reason that he will be disrespectful to Guadalajara fans but for the salary reduction that he will have if he arrives to America.

Factors that are holding back the trade

The exchange deal of Uriel Antuna for Sebastián Córdova seemed to be a done deal. However, in the last few days, this situation has changed and at this moment it seems unlikely that it can be completed for different reasons.

There are three factors that have prevented Uriel Antuna from joining América in exchange for Sebastián Córdova, the main one being that the Chivas player does not want a reduction in his salary. Also, the Laguna player's close circle is not very convinced about moving to Mexico City.

The player's hesitation has caused discomfort within the Coapa club, as the Águilas are not in a position to beg any player to wear the Azulcrema jersey. America´s board understands that the player needs time to analyze things, but believes that Antuna has been disrespectful to the team with the way he is refusing to join the team.

America´s Fans

The last reason that has slowed down the change is the “Azulcrema” fans' rejection to the arrival of the player who still plays for Chivas of Guadalajara. The fans have created on social networks the hashtag #AntunaNoFirmes that has gone viral all over the internet. 

With this phrase, America supporters have made known to all parties their dissatisfaction with the possible exchange of Córdova for Antuna and have set a position since the beginning of the negotiations.

At the moment negotiations are paused but have not yet collapsed 100 percent. The next few hours will be key to completing the transaction while both players are with the Mexican national soccer team ahead of the match against Chile on Wednesday, December 8.

Córdova will leave America no matter what

It should be noted that if the player exchange does not take place, América's board will try to fit Sebastián Córdova in another club because they maintain the position that the player should leave the institution due to the fact that he is not mentally focused and therefore does not deliver the best results for the club.
