Vergara is going against Chivas’ ideals.

Since 2017, Chivas has slowly lost the protagonism they used to have in Liga MX, not only because they stop being contenders for the title, but also because with the current management and coaching staff, they’re becoming the laughingstock of Mexican soccer.

Since Marcelo Michel Leaño took over El Rebaño Sagrado, right in the middle of Apertura 2021 after Amaury Vergara fired Victor Manuel Vucetich, accusing him of poor results, Chivas has only won 4 games out of the 13 that Michel Leaño has coached.

And now, Amaury Vergara not only imposed his friend as Chivas coach, but also is looking to break a long-standing Chivas tradition, as he’s looking to sign a non-Mexican for the next season, given the lack of results the current roster is having.

Who is Vergara after?

Given that Chivas is lacking a true forward, as neither Alexis Vega nor Jesús Angulo are forwards, Amaury Vergara is now after Rogelio Funes Mori, who although is now has the Mexican citizenship, he was born in Argentina.
