Chivas managed to beat 4-1 Pumas in Repechaje to earn their ticket to Liguilla, in what was the only game of Repechaje that wasn’t solved in a penalty shootout. Thanks to that victor, they faced Atlas in the quarterfinals of Clausura 2022.

The victory over Pumas improved the unbeaten streak that Ricardo Cadena has since he took over the team, replacing Marcelo Michel Leaño on the dugout, as El Rebaño Sagrado now have five straight games with a victory.

Cadena changed the face of Chivas since the first game he coached them, as he helped them manage the times of the game, as well as control the midfield and attack every time they could, something that El Rebaño never did with Michel Leaño.

And even if Amaury Vergara is thrilled with the good performances that El Rebaño is currently having with Cadena, the Mexican coach won’t remain in the dugout for Apertura 2022, as Vergara is not the one taking decisions in Chivas anymore.

Who is the person behind Vergara?

Since Marcelo Michel Leaño was sacked from his position in the first team, in Chivas they are still looking for a coach that can take over the open job, as Ricardo Peláez doesn’t fully trusts Cadena to do a good job in the long term.

But reports from W Deportes suggest that Vergara doesn’t pay attention to what happens in Chivas on a day-to-day, something he has delegated to both Ricardo Peláez and the former coach Marcelo Michel Leaño, who remains in El Rebaño’s structure according to reports from sports journalist Miguel Arizpe.

And it is precisely Michel Leaño the one that is leading El Rebaño, although some of the decisions are also taken by Peláez. That’s why they are looking to replace Ricardo Cadena once Chivas’s participation is over in Clausura 2022.

Who will be the new coach of El Rebaño?

Although Michel Leaño and Peláez have interviewed several candidates and that their top option is Marcelo Bielsa, Sports journalist David Medrano confirmed that Diego Aguirre is their second choice, as they already are in conversations with the Uruguayan coach to assume the coaching position for next season.
