Marcelo Michel Leaño keeps proving why he’s not the coach that Chivas need, especially after he wasn’t able to help El Rebaño win either of the two back-to-back Clásicos they played, first against Club América and then against Atlas.
Marcelo Michel Leaño talks about leaving Chivas after the draw in the Clásico Tapatío
Chivas followers were upset after the scoreless draw that Las Águilas managed to save from their visit to El Rebaño Sagrado, as at the end of the game they started chanting “Fuera Leaño!”, although the local sound tried to silence them.
And if that wasn’t enough, the 1-1 draw that Atlas was able to steal in the last minute of the Clásico Tapatío with a last-minute goal after Chivas were up on the score sheet for most of the second half is something that made Amaury Vergara aware of the need that Chivas has to change coaches.
When asked about the future of Michel Leaño, Vergara said that they will wait until the end of Clausura 2022 to evaluate the results that El Rebaño had with the Mexican coach to decide if he stayed longer or not, but with the recent results, things have started to change.
According to reports from W Deportes, Amaury Vergara already decided to part ways with Marcelo Michel Leaño in order to try to clean his image and give Chivas a much-needed fresh start, although it won’t happen until the end of the season.
For now, Vergara is already looking for potential replacements, as he knows El Rebaño needs a coach that understands Mexican soccer and isn’t afraid of taking the hard decisions that Michel Leaño hasn’t been able to take so far.
Reports suggest that Vergara has two options to replace Michel Leaño. The first one is Matías Almeyda, who is linked to Chivas every season, but for him to arrive, they will have to negotiate with San José Earhquakes, as Almeyda ends his contract until December and Vergara won’t wait that long with Michel Leaño on the bench.
The second option that El Rebaño has is Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who ends his contract with FC Juárez at the end of the season and is not willing to renew with Bravos. “Tuca” wants to keep coaching, which is why he’d be willing to arrive in Chivas, but they’d have to negotiate his contract, as he’s currently earning $2 million with Juárez, and Chivas will only be able to pay him $1.5 million.
Javier Hernandez denies his return to Chivas, but when will he return to the Mexican national team?
