Since the departure of Marcelo Michel Leaño from Chivas’s dugout after 13 rounds of Clausura 2022, El Rebaño Sagrado has become one of the teams with the best streaks going into Liguilla, as they managed to win their last four games.

Chivas are looking to add a new goalkeeper even after the outstanding performances of Miguel Jiménez

Ricardo Cadena was promoted to interim coach for the remainder of the season after Amaury Vergara decided that it was impossible to keep Michel Leaño on the dugout given his bad results, as he only managed to win three games in the season.

Michel Leaño left El Rebaño out of Repechaje zone with 14 points, thanks to three victories, five draws, and five defeats, numbers that didn’t benefited Chivas or their aspirations to transcend in Liga MX. Thankfully for the Rojiblancos, Cadena found a way to turn things around.

With the 12 points earned in four games, Ricardo Cadena helped Chivas finish the season standing as sixth, giving them the home advantage for the Repechaje game. Although his good performances might not be enough to grant him a full season in front of El Rebaño.

Vergara has his replacement ready

According to reports from sports journalist Jesús Hernández, the only way in which Ricardo Cadena will remain in Chivas’s dugout is if he manages to surpass what Victor Manuel Vucetich did during his stint in El Rebaño Sagrado.

Vucetich made it to the semifinals on Apertura 2020 after beating Club América in the quarterfinals, which means that Cadena will have to make it into the final. Amaury Vergara knows that the probabilities are little, which is why he is already looking for his replacement.

The same reports suggest that he’s after Club Puebla’s coach, Nicolás Larcamón, who has helped La Franja make it to the playoffs in the three seasons he’s been in front of the Camoteros, although if Chivas want him, they will have to pay his release clause.

Will Larcamón arrive at Chivas?

For now, the Argentine coach has six more months of contract with Club Puebla and has a release clause of $900,000, an affordable sum for Chivas, although they will have to start negotiations quickly if they want to acquire him at that price, as Puebla is close to renewing him and increasing his release clause.
