In the summer of 2017, FC Barcelona lost one of their star players to PSG in the summer transfer window, and the transfer fee made history and changed the market since. Neymar Jr. left FC Barcelona to join PSG for a fee that reached over $222 million. The fee continues to be the record for the most amount of money a club has paid to sign one player in football history. Since then many players have been sold for fees that are very high and are normally reaching numbers close to $100 million. Lamine Yamal could be the next footballer to be sold at a huge fee, but reports suggest that he will be able to break the record fee this summer. Mundo Deportivo reports that Barça has been notified that PSG is ready to break the world transfer record to sign Lamine Yamal as Kylian Mbappé’s replacement. The record stands at €222m, but PSG is prepared to offer up to $260 million, surpassing their own record. The 16-year-old is seen as the future of FC Barcelona and Spain.

Yamal will soon turn 17, but he is one of the most valuable players in the market in Europe. According to Transfermarkt, Yamal's market value is worth over $90 million. The Spanish winger seems like a great option for PSG since they want another young player that has the potential to be one of the best players in the world, similar to when they sign Mbappé in the summer of 2017.

He played a total of 50 matches across all competitions for FC Barcelona this past season. He scored seven goals and provided ten assists across all competitions this past season. He played in La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa Del Rey.

Lamine Yamal at the EUROS with Spain

Yamal not only earned a call-up to the Spanish national team, but he also earned a starting position in the team. He started in three out of four matches in the EUROS. He has provided two assists so far in the tournament, which is the most of many players.
