Lamine Yamal won the EURO 2024 with the Spanish national team this past weekend and had an amazing debut campaign at the European Championship. This summer has been a success, and he will be given a new number at FC Barcelona and will be considered a first-team player after using the number 27 last season. Lamine Yamal will wear the number 19 shirt this upcoming season at FC Barcelona, despite the rumors of him taking Leo Messi's historical number 10.

Some example of players that wore the number 19 in FC Barcelona in the recent years were: Patrick Kluivert, Lionel Messi, Ibrahim Afellay, Kevin Prince Boateng or Martin Braithwaite.

Yamal was wearing the number 19 for Spain at the European Championship. The winger shined with that number with Spain as he scored a goal and provided four assists in the competition. The number 19 belonged to another player, and now it shows what could happen this summer in terms of the player's continuity at the club.

Vitor Roque was wearing the number 19 this past season, and the young Brazilian striker may now leave the club as he might not be considered for next season. Sport reports that Barcelona taking Vitor Roque's shirt number and giving it to Yamal could be an indirect message of their intentions. His chances of staying are very slim as Barça wants to sell him.

Roque was signed by FC Barcelona last summer but joined the team in January. The Brazilian striker was very exciting in Brazil as he kept scoring goals for his former club, Athletico Paranense. Since joining the FC Barcelona team early this year, Roque has not been given lots of minutes to prove himself under Xavi Hernandez, and to some fans, they have seen enough.

Roque played a total of 16 matches for FC Barcelona across all competitions. The striker played in La Liga and in the Copa Del Rey. He was called up for Champions League games, but he didn't play a single minute. He scored two goals in La Liga, but he only played a total of 319 minutes.

Lamine Yamal's season with FC Barcelona

Yamal was given way more minutes at FC Barcelona than Vitor Roque. Yamal played 50 matches for Barça across all competitions. He scored seven goals and provided ten assists across all competitions. This earned him a call-up with Spain for the EUROS, in which he won the tournament with a team as a starter.
