Lionel Messi has many admirers in the football world, and he is arguably one of the greatest football players of all time. The Argentine icon is very admired by many popular football players now, and one of them is Lamine Yamal. The 16-year-old sensation has been brilliant for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Yamal spoke highly about Messi in the past and still admires him, but he is the favorite player he watched growing up. Yamal spoke about Messi and then revealed his favorite player in football history. He said, "I always say Messi is the best in history, but who I liked to watch was Neymar. He would make me watch the Barça games.” The Spanish winger has characteristics similar to Neymar's, as he is skillful and able to get past players at a young age. He is one of the best players at the EUROS and is likely to win the Young Player of the Tournament award. Neymar inspiring Yamal makes sense to many football fans as they see the similarities.

In the past, Yamal expressed why he prefers Neymar compared to other players including Messi. Yamal said, "Why did I like Neymar more than anyone else? Because he made me to go watch the games, he made me have fun, it was a show, it was nice to see him play.” Football fans respect his decision to identify Messi as the best in football history while choosing Neymar over him based on his preference for style of play. Yamal is set to write his own history at FC Barcelona, where Neymar and Messi shined. The FC Barcelona youngster has demonstrated the inspiration he has for Neymar at the EUROS.

Yamal has started in four out of the five matches for Spain so far in the EUROS. The youngster has yet to score in the tournament but has one of the top players with the most assists in the tournament. He has three assists so far in the tournament, which is the joint most assists of the EUROS, equal to Xavi Simons from the Netherlands. In the 4-1 win against Georgia, Yamal provided an assist, and Nico Williams scored a goal. The two players are very good friends, and they decided to celebrate like Neymar. They danced by the corner, and the Brazilian fans noticed the similar celebration that Neymar did back when he was at Santos in Brazil.

Spain is closer to the EUROS final

Tomorrow, Spain will play in the semifinals of the EUROS against France. The Spanish have won every single game in the tournament so far, and they hope to continue that streak as they are one win away from reaching the EUROS final for the first time since 2012, when they last won it. The other semifinal match is between England and the Netherlands. France and Spain will play at the Bayern Munich stadium, and the final will be played in Berlin at the Olympiastadion.
