João Neves promises to be one of the best young midfielders in Europe and in the world. The Portuguese midfielder has been bright for Benfica in the past two seasons and has been playing for the Portuguese national team. He played with Portugal at the EUROS this summer with limited minutes because of the stacked squad. Neves is expected to be given more chances at the national team, but even with a few minutes at the European Championships, clubs are after him.

Manchester United have been wanting to sign him, but the high price tag that Benfica has for him has pushed the Premier League giants away. PSG is also very interested in signing Neves and has now submitted a bid to get the Portuguese midfielder ahead of Manchester United.

Record Portugal reported that Neves is very close to joining PSG. Negotiations have progressed in recent hours, and PSG’s offer is not higher than $75 million, but Benfica wants more since the French club does not want to pay the original price tag. João Neves prefers to join PSG over Manchester United. Paris Saint Germain would pay Joao Neves release clause if necessary.

Fabrizio Romano reported a couple of days ago that Neves is ready to say yes to PSG as he is really attracted by PSG’s project and to playing under Luis Enrique. Personal terms aren’t an issue, but Benfica wants a higher fee than $70 million for the player this summer. Benfica is used to selling great, talented players for a high transfer fee.

Neves played 55 matches across all competitions for Benfica this past season. He scored three goals and provided two assists. He plays as a defensive midfielder, but his qualities make him a very versatile player. Players that he will feel comfortable with at PSG will be Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Ramos, Danilo Pereira, and Vitinha.

Who will replace Neves at Benfica?

If Neves does leave Benfica this summer, the Portuguese club will look for a replacement immediately, and they may sign a familiar face. Record Portugal reports Benfica is considering signing Renato Sanches to replace João Neves, who is leaving to join PSG. Paris has offered Renato Sanches on loan to Benfica.
