João Neves may not have played a lot of minutes at the EUROS with Portugal this summer, but he is still among the most interesting players big European clubs are after this summer. Neves played an incredible season with Benfica this past season, and now he is being chased by Paris Saint Germain.
Fabrice Hawkins reports that Neves wants to sign for PSG and he is the French club's priority at the moment. An agreement is not easy, as Benfica is asking for more than $100 million for the player. PSG will likely lose their player Fabian Ruiz, who was one of the best players for Spain at the EUROS this summer.
Ruiz will leave if PSG makes Neves the priority signing this summer, which the club intends to do. Ruiz has impressed many football fans at the EUROS, and his time at PSG may be numbered as other clubs are interested in the midfielder. Neves has been under PSG's radar for the past couple of months, and now it seems that a deal for the player is coming soon.
Manchester United has been interested in the Portuguese midfielder these past couple of months as well. The Red Devils are after other players as well, and they could lose out on the player if PSG starts to advance their talks with Neves this summer. The price tag Benfica set has pushed many clubs away, but PSG believes that they could negotiate a lower price.
PSG will likely offer a huge contract offer for Neves to accept right away and bid a transfer fee that is near to what Benfica has been looking for. Record Portugal reports that PSG may offer a bid worth just over $75 million, with Benfica asking for at least $120 million. Neves' contract with Benfica expires in the summer of 2028.
Neves played a total of 55 matches for Benfica this past season across all competitions. He scored three goals and provided two assists this past season with Benfica. The Portuguese midfielder started in most of the matches and played over 4,300 minutes for them.
