The summer transfer window often delivers as many big European clubs attempt to make big marquee signings that could help them improve in the upcoming season. The young midfielder that many clubs want to sign is Benfica's João Neves. The Portuguese midfielder was a key player for the Portuguese team and was called up by the Portuguese national team for the EUROS. Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly very interested in signing Neves, but they do not want to pay the high price tag Benfica is setting, which is more than $100 million. A deal for Neves will be very expensive, and PSG is willing to spend big for him this summer. According to CNN Portugal, PSG has presented a proposal for a transfer of more than $90 million and one player to Benfica for João Neves this summer. It would help PSG by paying a higher transfer fee and offering the Portuguese midfielder a more reasonable chance to play for the French club consistently next season.

Manchester United may be out of the race for Neves due to Benfica's high price tag on the player this summer. Man United may go for PSG's midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who arrived at the French club last summer from Sporting CP. If PSG does plan to sell Ugarte this summer, the French club may offer a swap deal with Benfica between the Uruguayan midfielder and Neves this summer, along with $90 million.

Neves' departure from Benfica could be historic in terms of the transfer fee. If Benfica accepts the $90 million plus a player deal for Neves, the young Portuguese midfielder would be the third most expensive departure in Benfica’s history. Benfica has been selling lots of special talent over the years to other European clubs for historic transfer fees, like Ederson, Ruben Dias, Darwin Nunez, and more.

João Neves at the EUROS

João Neves' amazing season with Benfica earned him a call-up to the Portuguese national team for the EUROS this summer. Neves did not get the opportunity to shine in the tournament as he only started in Portugal's 2-0 loss against Georgia and played for 75 minutes. He also came on in the 88th minute in the 3-0 win against Turkiye in the group stage.
