PSG forward Lionel Messi has opened up on his policy of not asking fellow players for their shirt after a soccer match. This comes after Everton forward Andros Townsend hit Ronaldo's goal celebration in Ronaldo's presence. Townsend later approached Ronaldo for his shirt and the Portuguese was reluctant to pass it on but eventually gave him.
Lionel Messi was asked if he has ever asked to swap shirts with any player which he said he doesn't do but has only asked a fellow legend Zidane once. “I don’t ask for shirts, I usually swap them, but I asked Zidane once. If there is an Argentine I swap it with him, but, unless someone asks me, I’m not asking anyone.” he told an Argentine TV.
After Messi's first match for PSG, a Reims player approached him and requested that the Argentine give him his shirt but Messi said no to the request. It was later revealed that the six time Ballon d'Or winner rejected because it was his debut shirt and the shirt is his first of any club other than Barcelona.
Messi is still struggling to adapt to his new PSG teammates. He has only scored a goal for the club, the second in the 2-0 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League. He and his two other attackers Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr all failed to register a single shot on target during their 2-0 loss against Rennes. Such an embarrassing outing for a talented and expensive squad.
