France and Chelsea midfielder N'golo Kanté will receive a medal after France won the UEFA Nations League by beating Spain 2-1 in the final thanks to goals from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappé, though Mbappé's goal was controversial.
N'golo Kanté was sure to be called up for the matches but tested positive for COVID-19 and remained at his club Chelsea, he has since tested negative and is back in training for Chelsea ahead of the weekend Premier League game against Brentford City.
France head coach Didier Deschamps confirmed N'golo Kanté will receive a medal because he started the tournament with France and played all the group games as France sealed qualification for the four nations final. He was only unable to play because he was unavailable due to his health
Deschamps praised the humble and hard working midfielder as one of the best players in the world. He thereby confirmed he will keep his medal for him."He is one of the world's best players. Obviously he didn't play our last two matches because he was injured. I called him this morning and I told him I will keep your medal for you, and that's exactly what I did. Players like him deserve more than a medal"
