French forward, Kylian Mbappe is one of the most popular footballers in the world. The Paris Saint-Germain player is currently the second-most-expensive player in football history after Neymar, being transferred from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for a fee of €180m. Many see him as the successor to either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi or even both. Mbappe is also touted as a future Ballon d'Or winner and it is expected that this would not take long to happen.
Kylian Mbappe is a very young player who was born on 20 December 1998. He is a 22-year-old French professional footballer born in Bondy, a small town not far from Paris. He was born to a Cameroonian father, Wilfred Mbappe, and an Algerian mother, Fayza Lamari. His father is a football coach and now doubles as his agent, while his mother is a former handball player. His adoptive elder brother, Jires Kembo Ekoko is a professional while his younger brother, Ethan Mbappe just signed a preliminary contract with PSG till 2024.
Kylian Mbappe broke into the Monaco senior team in 2015 having spent just 3 seasons in the Monaco academy. At Monaco, he scored 27 goals in just 60 matches, 26 of which came in his second season in the club from 44 games. In 2017, Paris Saint-Germain came in with an offer for the youngster, an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for €180m the following summer. So far at PSG, Kylian Mbappe has scored 136 goals in 178 matches whilst winning the Ligue 1 (3 times) and getting to the final of the UEFA Champions League.
The future of the 22-year-old had been the subject of speculations for months now. In August, PSG Sporting Director, Leonardo, revealed that Kylian Mbappe would prefer to leave the club but that the club wouldn't let him go unless a suitable bid is submitted. Mbappe has less than 12 months left on his contract and would become a free agent by Jne 2022.
After Leonardo's announcement, Real Madrid put in an initial €120m bid for the Frenchman but it was quickly rejected by the Parisians. Another €160m bid towards the end of the transfer window was also not considered enough at the Parc des Princes. It is unclear but unlikely that Kylian Mbappe would sign a new contract with PSG and this means that Real Madrid could get their man for free next season.
