Cuauhtémoc Blanco confessed how tough was his life in his first years as player with Club America

No one can contradict that one of the legends of Club America was the historic Mexican forward Cuauhtémoc Blanco. The ex-football player fell in love and won the hearts of all American players and Mexican fans in general with his talent, his charisma, his witticism and his occurrences on and off the field, as well as how he defended the colors of his team.

However, the beginnings of Blanco were not easy, since his first contracts with the club were quite modest, Cuauhtémoc confessed that he had to play street games to be able to afford his expenses. In that time, Blanco earned 500 pesos per month with his salary contract, then he increased it to 800 pesos per month. According to the player, he was paid to play in the “central de abastos”, which is a huge market in Mexico City, where some professional players also participated, it was very forbidden for us to do that, but it was necessary to get money, he said. 

Blanco also confesses that of his 500 pesos per month he had to give 150 pesos to his mother and use 100 for his public transport, but with his first good contract he took his brothers out from Tepito, a rough neighborhood in Mexico City center and bought a house to his mom. 

A very clear example of the humility that the player had was that despite of his low salary, he always helped his family and closest friends. Over time he became a big star in the Mexican football, becoming the highest paid player in Liga MX. Now he is the governor of the state of Morelos in Mexico and one day he would like to be candidate for the presidency of the country.
