Jürgen Klopp has become, through hard work, one of the best coaches in world soccer. The German coach is also in charge of a fearsome Liverpool team that since his arrival at Anfield is the main favorite in every tournament it plays.
Klopp's big moment with the Reds, in fact, came in 2019 when he added the top European competition to Liverpool's trophy cabinet for the sixth time. Also, in 2020, he managed to break Liverpool's streak without winning the Premier League since its inception.
Jurgen Klopp was already on the verge of touching the sky without having left Germany, leading a Borussia Dortmund team that played great soccer and was able to win two Bundesliga titles against the "almighty" Bayern Munich.
In fact, Bayern itself managed to snatch the title in the final of the Champions League in the 2012/2013 season after beating them 2-1.
Five years later, in 2017/2018, and already as Liverpool manager, Klopp again missed out on the Champions League by losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the final.
Klopp's Liverpool made amends a year later in the 2018/2019 campaign by taking the Champions League after beating Tottenham Hotspur at the Wanda Metropolitano 2-0 with goals from Salah and Origi. So far, that has been the only Champions League that Jurgen Klopp has managed to win.
Now, after beating Villarreal in the semifinals with a 5-2 aggregate score, Klopp will be playing in his fourth Champions League final and will be looking to win it for the second time as a coach. It will be his third final with Liverpool and he will face either Manchester City or Real Madrid, the team with whom he lost his second Champions League final as manager.
It will be the tenth time the Reds have been in the final of the Champions League. They played five between 1977 and 1985, after which they spent 20 years out of contention for the 'Orejona' to play two in three years between 2005 and 2007. They again spent a decade away from the final and are going for their third since 2018.
6-3 is Liverpool's record in its history in Champions League finals. 2022 final will be their tenth. They come from winning their last one, in 2019 in Madrid against Tottenham. They played their first in 1977 and won their first four.
