Cruz Azul's new board plans to build a stadium in Mexico City in the midterm to stop playing at the Estadio Azteca.

The president of the Board of Directors of Deportivo Cruz Azul, Victor Velázquez, pointed out that they seek to build a property in the metropolitan area within a period of three years. He said that like any large team they are looking for their own stadium and this matter will be addressed in a next assembly to carry it out in the mid-term.

He added that, for a long time, Cruz Azul has wanted to have their own stadium. They want a to build the Blue Stadium and make it 100% property of the Cooperative. The time schedule they have set is beyond three to five years. Regarding the location, Velázquez commented that the team has practically "a lifetime" in the metropolitan area of Mexico City and the priority is for that trend to continue, although there is still no specific site.

The Board of Directors of Cruz Azul knows that the land is expensive in the Mexico City Metro area, but they will do everything possible to stay on it. All this responds to the availability of land. The next assembly of the cooperative is scheduled for November 26, however, Velázquez mentioned that it will depend on if the conditions allow it, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, Velázquez pointed out that the new board of directors has always sought in a more entrepreneurial concept and so they will consult with the rest of the cooperative members to define a common ground and a suitable budget for the new Cruz Azul home.
