They bought him for more than $45 million, but why can't Estevão Willian play for Chelsea yet?

Chelsea FC signed Estevão Willian a couple of days ago, and the fans are very excited about the signing. The Premier League club announced that the Brazilian teenager will be a Chelsea player next year and, in the meantime, will continue to play for Palmeiras. The London club paid around $45 million in some add-ons to sign the player, but fans question why he can't play for them next season since the signing is already official. The reason is because of his age; Willian is still only 17 years old, and by the time he is 18, which is next year, he will be able to play for Chelsea in the Premier League. Willian's birthday is on April 24th, but he will still not be allowed to play for Chelsea late in next season. He will quickly be able to join the club next summer after the next season concludes. The Brazilian is causing lots of exciting moments in Brazil, and some fans believe that he is ready to play for Chelsea already. Chelsea hopes he continues to develop a bit more before he joins.

Willian's situation is similar to what happened with Real Madrid signing Endrick. Endrick was signed by Real Madrid in late 2022, but at the time, the Brazilian striker was 16 years old. Endrick is currently 17 years old, and he will turn 18 on July 21st. After his birthday later this month, he will officially be presented as a Real Madrid player and be given a presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Willian is is set to be the next big exciting star coming from Brazil and from Palmeiras. In the Serie A of Brazil, Estevão has played 14 matches for Palmeiras so far, where he scored four goals and provided two assists. He started in 10 matches out of 14 games and continues to build more confidence with the team.
