Messi goes with Argentina & if Suarez is called up for Copa America, Inter Miami player that should have to replace them

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been the most crucial players at Inter Miami this 2024 MLS season so far. The dynamic duo has been a force in the MLS and has guided the team to many victories so far. While the Copa America 2024 tournament gets closer, Inter Miami will lose Messi as he is guaranteed a spot on the Argentina national team. Suarez, on the other hand, is not sure if he will play in the Copa America, but in the Uruguay pre-Copa America 35-man list, Suarez’s name is on there. If Suarez also leaves for Copa America next month, Inter Miami will have to rely on Robert Taylor or Shanyder Borgelin.

Taylor has been an important player for Inter Miami as well whenever Messi or Suarez are out and can’t play. The Finnish attacker combines well with Suarez and Messi when they play together, and he will be able to play for Inter Miami next month since Finland is in the 2024 EUROS in Germany. Borgelin is from Haiti, and they will not be participating in the 2024 Copa America this June. The Haitian striker has played four matches this 2024 MLS season but only started one match and has played only 118 minutes.

The Copa America starts from June 21st to July 15th, but the national teams will have friendly matches in early June as preparation, which Messi and Suarez would have to play in. With over a month without the famous duo, Taylor and Borgelin would have to guide Inter Miami for a total of around seven MLS games, depending on how Argentina and Uruguay do in the Copa America. Messi and Suarez could be expected to be back in time for the 2024 Leagues Cup tournament, which starts for them on July 27th against Club Puebla from Mexico.

Inter Miami’s matches before June

Inter Miami has three MLS games before June 1st, which is another day Inter Miami plays. Inter Miami will play DC United tonight at the Chase Stadium. On May 25th, Inter Miami will go to Canada again to play against Vancouver Whitecaps. On May 29th, Inter Miami will face Atlanta United, and three days later, on June 1st, the team will face St. Louis City. Messi and Suarez are highly expected to play those games before they go with their national teams.
